HAMBRE
Hambre (‘Hunger’) is a story about perfection and its dangers. It tries to convey the feelings of someone who has trusted in our western society and its values and has acted accordingly, always reaching for success in every dimension: work, beauty, love, religion... Someone who has achieved all that was expected from her and is still empty, unsatisfied, hungry.
As my first short film, Hambre is also a declaration of intentions: a radical commitment to this new career I have decided to pursue on cinema, as well as a first approach to the aesthetics I want to develop as a filmmaker, focused on the Spanish cultural heritage. To this end, Hambre’s colour palette is deeply inspired by the Spanish tradition: Nazarene purple, enrooted in the Spanish Holy Week tradition; gold and yellow, which represent spiritual richness, and the Spanish black, besides which all blacks seem grey.
